BNP : CEC not allowing army to work independently.

Opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Friday alleged that chief election commissioner KM Nurul Huda is not allowing army to work independently since their deployment on December 24 ahead of the 11th parliament polls.
‘The CEC has ensured that the roles of the army remain limited and stifled after they were deployed across the country. They are not being allowed to work independently. All these things are being happening at the behest of the prime minister and under the supervision of the CEC,’ Rizvi said at a news conference.
Addressing the press conference at BNP’s central office at Nayapaltan, the BNP leader alleged that a total of 10,329 leaders and activists of the opposition were arrested across the country till Thursday since announcement of the election schedule while 844 ‘false’ cases were filed, a total of 2,896 incidents of attack took place, a total of 13,252 were injured and nine were killed.
Rizvi also presented the current picture of how the candidates of ‘sheaf of paddy’ found themselves at the receiving end of harassment and attacks as their houses were being cordoned off by law enforcers and Awami goons in various districts including Kishoreganj, Barishal, Sylhet, Feni, Lakshmipur, Chattogram, Cox’sbazar, Moulvibazar, Bogura, Faridpur, Kushtia, Nagaon, Sirajganj, Mymensingh and Patuakhali.
He alleged that law enforcing agencies and Awami League cadres obstructed the electioneering processions of sheaf of paddy, the party’s election symbol, in different parts of the country on Thursday.
He said the law enforcers and AL goons are driving away BNP’s polling agents, activists and supporters from their respective areas and Awami goons are making armed rehearsal across villages. A state of fear was prevailing everywhere, he added.
Reacting to the prime minister’s comments made on Thursday, Rizvi said the prime minister of the ‘illegal government’ again said that BNP was planning sabotage sensing defeat in the election.
He said Awami League is the party which is manufacturing lies. AL goons had attacked on the motorcade of the BNP secretary general and swooped on Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, leaving him seriously injured as well as fired gunshot at Mahbub Uddin Khokon.
Rizvi asked who kept Mahmudur Rahman Manna confined in Bogura, Salah Uddin Ahmed in Dhaka, Zahiruddin Swapan in Barishal and Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik in Chandpur?
The BNP leader claimed that even after such incidents people would start a revolution through ballot on December 30 defying all kinds of threats and obstruction.
BNP leaders including Ataur Rahman Dhali, ABM Obaidul Islam, Munir Hossain, Belal Ahmed and Shajahan Samrat among others were present.
